Watsonia Quilt Wander - Sat 21st October 2006Yes, we are growing and the Watsonia Quilt Wander just gets better every year. Besides a wonderful collection of quilts we had two face painters for the kids, an animal farm, balloon girls, the local football club, stalls and much more. A little rain didn't dampen the spirits and a great day was had by all concerned. This years winner of the Watsonia Quilt Wander "Heathcote Award" went to Alison Gilespie for her stunning work on her Mocha quilt. The Award was presented by Mr Heathcote himself and Deb took great delight in presenting Alison with the large trolley bag that was donated by Sydney Sewing Supplies. Below are some photos of the awards being presented to Alison with her award winning quilt.

Watsonia Quilt Wander - Sat 13th August 2005This years WQW was very much a success with many new faces entering the Watsonia shopping district for the first time as well as many familiar faces that weren't aware of the fabulous range of shops and services that exist in their own backyardWe enjoyed the day very much (exhausted, but enjoyed) and we are sure from the feedback that we have received so far that you enjoyed it too. Albeit a bit late, Click Here to view some photo's from WQW 2005 Watsonia Quilt Wander - Sat 14th August 2004This was the inaugural occasion of the annual event showcasing the work of quilters of all levels. It was a visual feast of colour and design across a broad base of skills. Some quilts were from novice quilters from classes they have attended. Some were by accomplished Quilt Artists. Some were historical or cultural in nature, but they were all a pleasure to view. Quilts come in varying sizes for many purposes so keep your eye out for the small, quirky and unusual, along with the commonly perceived bed quilt. Patchwork and Quilting is a phenomenon touching lives the world over. This quilt wander was meant to be exactly that, a leisurely event. People took their time (despite the weather being the coldest and wettest day in Melbourne in 26 years) to view the quilts and along the way experienced the diversity of what Watsonia has to offer as a shopping destination. The well appointed Watsonia Public Library had a mini exhibition and this page was regularly updated as the elements of the Quilt Wander came together. |
